Laravel project rescue: we take over, stabilize and fix your app

Your Laravel app was inherited from another team, left behind by a freelancer or vendor, or generated faster than anyone could review it. Now deploys are nerve-racking, bugs come back, and nobody is sure what is safe to touch. Our Laravel engineers take over the codebase and the servers, tell you in writing what is wrong, and get the app back to a stable, supported state without a rewrite.

Official Laravel Partner · SOC 2 Type II audited · In-house team of 35+ engineers · US-based leadership in Austin, TX

Signs Your Laravel App Needs a Rescue

  • The developer or agency who built it has disappeared, and nobody else knows how it works
  • There are no automated tests, so every change is a guess
  • Deploys regularly break production, or nobody is sure how to deploy at all
  • It is stuck on an end-of-life Laravel or PHP version that no longer gets security fixes
  • Security scans, customer questionnaires or your host are flagging vulnerabilities
  • Large parts of the code were AI-generated and nobody on the team understands them
  • Pages are slow, queued jobs fail silently, or scheduled tasks stopped running and no one noticed

How a Laravel Rescue Works

Five phases, in order. Each one leaves the app in a better, documented state than it was before.

  1. Access and handover. We collect access to the repository, servers, DNS, hosting and third-party services, and move every credential into a shared password vault you control. Before changing anything, we confirm backups exist and that we can actually restore them.

  2. Code and infrastructure audit. An engineer reviews the code, dependencies, database, servers, queues, scheduled jobs and deployment process. You get written findings ranked by risk, so the first fixes go where the damage is most likely.

  3. Stabilize. We set up error monitoring so problems surface before customers report them, fix the critical bugs, add tests around the riskiest paths, and put a CI pipeline in place so every change is checked before it ships.

  4. Secure and upgrade. We patch known security issues and move the app off end-of-life Laravel and PHP versions one major version at a time. Our Laravel upgrade service covers this step in detail, and the Laravel version upgrade checklist shows the support dates and steps.

  5. Hand back or keep supporting. You get documentation, a deployment runbook and an up-to-date picture of the system. Your own team can take it from there, or you can keep an ongoing team of dedicated Laravel developers on the app.

What You Get in the First Two Weeks

Our plan for the start of every rescue is to hand you these four deliverables, so you can decide what happens next with real information.

  • Written audit. A plain-language report on the state of the code, dependencies, infrastructure and deployment process.
  • Risk register. Every issue we found, ranked by likelihood and impact, with a note on what it would take to fix.
  • Stabilization plan. The order we recommend tackling the work in, starting with what protects production and your data.
  • Fixed-scope quote. A price for the stabilization work in the plan, agreed before that work begins.

Healthcare and Regulated Apps

  • A Business Associate Agreement signed before anyone on our team accesses PHI
  • No PHI in logs, error reports or staging environments; staging uses de-identified or synthetic data
  • Existing audit trails preserved and kept working through every fix and upgrade

Our processes are covered by a SOC 2 Type II audit, which helps when your compliance team needs evidence for a vendor review. See our healthcare software development work.

Why Teams Choose Web Mavens for Laravel Rescues

  • Laravel is our core stack. We're an Official Laravel Partner, so the people reading your code work in Laravel every day.
  • Audited processes. Our engineering processes are covered by a SOC 2 Type II audit, which matters when you hand over production credentials.
  • A team, not a single contractor. An in-house team of 35+ engineers means your rescue does not stall when one person is away, and it does not depend on any one person again.
  • Accountable leadership. US-based leadership in Austin, TX, and a free replacement guarantee if a developer isn't the right fit.

Laravel Rescue FAQ

Yes. Most rescue work starts with code someone else wrote. We take over the repository, servers and third-party accounts, document what we find and work from there.
No. If they're available, a short handover call helps, but we don't depend on it. We work out how the app behaves from the code, the database, the logs and the people who use it.
That's common in rescue projects. Before we change risky code, we add tests around the paths that matter most to the business (login, payments, integrations, scheduled jobs), so later fixes don't break them.
Rarely. A rewrite throws away working behaviour and takes the app offline from improvement for a long time. We stabilize what you have and refactor incrementally, and we only recommend replacing a part when the audit shows it costs more to keep than to rebuild.
We start with an audit of the code and infrastructure. Once we know what we are dealing with, you get a fixed-scope quote for the stabilization work before it begins.
Yes. We sign a Business Associate Agreement before anyone on our team gets access to protected health information, and our processes are covered by a SOC 2 Type II audit.
